Get excited as we launch our biggest project ever: GASP WRITES. Each volunteer will write short personal notes to 33 women in districts where Julie von Haefen and Sydney Batch are running for state House. Recipients will be women who need encouragement to vote.
OUR GOAL IS TO REACH 8,000 VOTERS and to BE THE DIFFERENCE in these 2 races, so SPREAD THE WORD!
You’ll receive names and addresses of your adopted voters, pre-printed messages introducing the candidates, and tips to get started. Short scripts will make the writing easy. During the fall, we will write to our voters 3 times — a magic number of contacts!
- your own NOTE STATIONERY
- a PEN
- a bottle of WINE to share, if you’re so inclined.
- (No need to bring chairs – the church has them!)
- 5-10 new Girlfriends to attend this meeting!
Be creative! Be generous! Commit to help reach these voters!
Can’t write 33 notes? Recruit a helper or two and share a packet.
Can’t make the meeting? We will HAND-DELIVER your packet and you can write notes solo at your kitchen table or with other Girlfriends at a GASP Writes house party.
Don’t want to write? Come to the meeting to stuff and stamp envelopes – or donate to offset printing costs.
We’ll also hear from Dr. Betsy Bennett, a local psychologist who has studied WHY people vote... or don’t. She helped develop our scripts and inserts and has provided suggestions for our personal notes likely to help boost turnout. Based on her research, our efforts might improve the turnout among our targeted voters by 10% or more!
Sign up NOW by contacting Judy Tardiff (firstname.lastname@example.org or 919-845-9214) or Cam Lewis (email@example.com or 919-612-0045). Please let Judy or Cam know ASAP what you will do to help so we can keep up with how many of our voters have been adopted!
