State of The Labor Union

For our August event, Community Circle will be discussing The State of The Labor Union. Our conversation with include what it means to live in a Right to Work state, what the $15/hr minimum wage passing in the US House really means for North Carolinians, and what conditions are really like to work in some of the most vulnerable industries, like farming and fast food.

Our expert panel will include

  • Ajamu Dillahunt, author and legendary activist

  • Meghan Melo, former attorney at NC Legal Aid

  • Abiathar Wade, Chief Steward Duke Facilities Union

  • Hudson McCormick, NCGA LA and union organizer

The thought piece for our discussion is an interview with labor organizer and activist Ajamu Dillahunt by Scalawag Magazine. (https://www.scalawagmagazine.org/2015/07/interview-ajamu-dillahunt/)

We look forward to having you be a part of this timely and important conversation!
