AFAR is thrilled to host our first Book Club meeting on Sunday May 7th at 7pm, upstairs at the Morning Times Cafe. This is our first meeting of what will become a recurring event every other month. This also follows along with the 5th Action from the 100 Days of Action after the Women's March. For our first meeting we have chosen this article to discuss: https://www.cate-young.com/battymamzelle/2014/01/This-Is-What-I-Mean-When-I-Say-White-Feminism.html
Our goal is to not only have discussions about a book or article related to the topics that speak to our mission, but also to invite representatives from local organizations to speak to our small group about what they do. We hope to open up communication with these organizations as a way to help our members get more involved in our community.
In May we will have representatives from the North Chapter of the ACLU. They are doing a lot of important work and we are looking forward to hearing more about various ways we can support them!
We hope you can join us for our first Book Club meeting. The Morning Times sells wine, beer, and other drinks and snacks along with coffee, so everyone will have something to choose from!
