AFAR presents Civic Kids' Story Hour

Partnering with Read With Me, a new local children's bookstore, AFAR is hosting Civic Kids' Story Hour on a bi-monthly schedule!  During this hour, a local government official or political candidate will read to our children on a variety of progressive topics such as equal rights, the environment, and justice. Kids will also participate in an activity relative to the hour's topic.  The hour will be designed for ages 3-7.  Find the information below for our very first story hour and we hope you will join us.  If you can't make the event, definitely stop by this amazing new book store!

A new children's book and art shop is opening in downtown Raleigh this April, Read With Me. We are located at 111 E. Hargett St #110, 1/2 block from Marbles Kids Museum. Owner Christine Brenner is a former school librarian and educator. She has a carefully chosen collection of books for babies through young adults, with a small selection of parenting and education books. We will have art gallery space for adult and youth artists to display and sell their work. Also, we have a dedicated workshop space for book clubs, writing and illustration classes for kids and adults.  Doors open to all families starting April 7th!
